I recently got an opportunity to pick out a few Milani Color Statement shades to share with you. I tried to pick out some very diverse colors. I love what I picked out and I hope you love them too!
Let’s take a look…
Pink Beige
Pink Beige is described as a nude rose pink creme. This is a very fresh color that would likely work with most skin tones. I find it very flattering. Swatches are 2 coats with OTD top coat.
Mint Crush
Mint Crush is described as a light mint green. As with many pastel shades the first coat on this was a bit blotchy, but it cleared up mostly by the second coat. You may need to touch up a few thin spots, or you could go with 3 coats. My swatches show 2 coats with OTD top coat.
Sugar Plum
Sugar Plum is described as a shimmering fuchsia purple. This is such a bright fun color! The formula on Sugar Plum is so smooth, and you could probably get by on one coat. I did 2 just to be certain. My swatches are 2 coats with OTD top coat.
Tattle Teal
Tattle Teal is described as a bright teal blue. The formula on this was near perfection! Goes on super smooth, and could be a one coater. My swatches are 2 coats with OTD top coat.
Lovely Amethyst
Lovely Amethyst is described as a shimmering purple Amethyst. This polish has a frost type finish that tends to show every imperfection, so be ready to take very slow deliberate coats. I had a bear of a time trying to get clean coverage on this one, so you will notice imperfections. My swatches are 2 coats with OTD top coat.
Gilded Rocks
Gilded Rocks is described as a clear base with pink and gold glitter. Seems such a simple description for a very complex polish. This polish is duped across many brands. I have not tried them all so I can’t compare formula, I can say that I had no problems at all with this. My swatches show 1 coat of Gilded Rocks over 1 coat of Zoya Rue.
Pros: Beautiful colors, with smooth creamy formulas. Full opacity in 2 coats with most of these. The color swatch caps are a perfect addition to these bottles. If all brands did this I would never have to hesitate to hide all my polish in helmers. And of course the biggest pro.. Milani is cruelty free!
Cons: I struggled a little getting the right amount of polish on the brush, I was ending up with either flooded cuticles or bald spots. I suspect this is just a matter of getting used to the brush though.
My thoughts: I was very impressed with the formula on these. I can go back and forth between swatching high end indies and inexpensive mainstream with very little adjustment between them. Milani offers great polish in a good variety of colors for a low price point.
Milani Color Statements is available on MilaniCosmetics.com or at drug stores nationwide like CVS or Walgreens. Retail price is $3.99.
