Hello my dear friends! Today I have 4 polishes from Great Lakes Lacquer to show you all. I have a polish crush on this brand. Mariah obviously makes gorgeous polish; but growing up with family in Erie, Buffalo and Watertown I’ve been fortunate enough to see many of the Great Lakes and I have wonderful memories of them from my childhood – and even some into adulthood.
Great Lakes Lacquer Lake Ontario
Lake Ontario is described as a sapphire blue jelly with six different kinds of blue flake. This polish has so much depth to it! A great formula too, I found it best in 3 thin coats but could be worn in 2 thicker coats.
Great Lakes Lacquer Lake Michigan
Lake Michigan is described as a deep teal linear holographic with multi chrome flake that shifts from a deep blue to light green and shimmer that mimics those flakes. Really all that needs to be said is Holo and Flakies. You need it.
Great Lakes Lacquer Lake Superior
Lake Superior is described as a deep green leaning teal with green to purple shifting multi chrome shimmer. I tried to capture the amazing shift, but I certainly didn’t do it justice. It’s much more dramatic in real life. My swatches below show 3 thin coats plus glossy top coat.
Great Lakes Lacquer I Left My Heart At Houghton*
August Limited Edition
I Left My Heart At Houghton is described as a light blurple with blue sparks and holographic micro flecks. The perfect blurple! This beauty is a Limited Edition through the month of August only, so if you love it like I do grab it sooner rather than later!

My Thoughts: The Great One collection marks the 1 year anniversary of Great Lakes Lacquer. But judging by every polish I have of this brand you would think Mariah was an old pro at this, or at least a pro minus the “old” part! The first polish I ever purchased – The Animal Advocate – spoke to me for so many reasons, and it was easily as superb as any polish since. If you haven’t tried Great Lakes Lacquer yet, their 1 year anniversary is a perfect opportunity. I mean a whole collection of blues and teals. Need I say more?
