Hi all! I know it’s been a few days since I posted, but my schedule got off a little and I ended up with a backlog of samples and no blog posts ready. So I took a few days to just swatch. No rest for a nail blogger.. for real. Okay so today I have this months Square Hue box to show you – this months theme is Scuba Dive Hawaii. I have swatches of each and 2 nail art mani’s to show you so let’s get started!
Square Hue Ikaika
Ikaika is a lavendar purple creme. Beautiful consistency and application. My swatches show 2 coats plus top coat. Ignore any little bubbles, that’s NOT the polish, my top coat went crazy.
Square Hue Nani
Nani is a summery bright orange creme. In the bottle you can see a bit of shimmer but it doesn’t transfer to the nail. A truly beautiful color though, especially if you are an orange polish lover like me! My swatches show 2 easy coats plus top coat.
Square Hue Akamai
Akamai is a glossy turquoise shimmer polish. This was a bit more sheer than the other two but built to opacity in 3 thin coats. You could probably get by with 2 slightly thicker coats.
I actually did 2 nail art manicures with these. I’ve really been wanting to do a smoosh mani, and I thought these colors were perfect for it.
A smoosh mani is super easy, anyone can do it, and you get a very unique look! For this I put a couple large drops of each color on a large clear stamper (you can also use a plastic bag.) With my nails prepped with a white base coat and latex barrier, I just ‘smooshed’ the stamper lightly on my nail till I had a look I liked. The result is a unique blend of colors. I then stamped a single flower image from UberChic plate 1-03.
And for the next nail art mani I did, since this is the Scuba Dive Hawaii collection I thought an underwater/mermaid mani would be perfect. Akamai is definitely the perfect base for an underwater mani.
For this look I started with 3 thin coats of Akamai. I stamped the image from plate BP-L003, first with MdU Blue and then again with M Polish To Have and to Holo. I randomly placed a few underwater themed nail charms, from Ebay. Then I placed a few pearl like nail rhinestones, also from Ebay. I top coated over everything to finish off the look. I really love how this turned out.
