Hey lovelies! I have a new-to-the-blog brand to show you all today. Serum No5 is an established indie brand that’s been around for quite a few years. I personally have only owned a couple, so they had not made it to my blog. But today I have 12 amazing holos from the upcoming Lucky Colors collection to show you.
This collection is based off the Chinese Zodiac signs, so I thought it would be fun to include a little info about each of the signs and corresponding years. That way you can truly find your lucky color! 🙂
Serum No5 Rooster
Rooster is best described as a canary yellow holographic polish with slight green undertones. For my swatches I used 2 coats and no top coat. I know, no top coat!? What has come over me? It’s very rare I come across polishes that I feel like absolutely hold their own without the extra layer of top coat.
The Years of the Rooster include 1921, 1933, 1945, 1957, 1969, 1981, 1993, 2005, 2017, 2029…
Ahhh the year I graduated.
Serum No5 Rabbit
Rabbit is best described as a rose pink scattered and linear holographic polish. My swatches are 2 coats with no top coat. If you were in a bit of a rush you could get away with a single coat.
The Years of the Rabbit include 1915, 1927, 1939, 1951, 1963, 1975, 1987, 1999, 2011, 2023…
Serum No5 Rat
Rat is best described as a fern green holo. I’m a green lover, so this is a favorite for sure. Scattered and linear holo.
The Years of the Rat include 1912, 1924, 1936, 1948, 1960, 1972, 1984, 1996, 2008, 2020, 2032…
Dragon is best described as a light silver holographic polish with a bit of a metallic feel to it. Scattered and linear holo.
The Years of the Dragon include 1916, 1928, 1940, 1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000, 2012, 2024…
Serum No5 Snake
Snake is best described as a black linear and scattered holographic polish. My swatches are 2 coats with no top coat. Again, one slightly thicker coat would probably be enough.
The Years of the Snake include 1917, 1929, 1941, 1953, 1965, 1977, 1989, 2001, 2013, 2025, 2037…
Serum No5 Monkey
Monkey is best described as a soft white creme with subtle holo sparkle and gold microglitter. I had a hard time finding the right light to capture the beauty of this one. It was a bit streaky but leveled out on the third coat. Topped with glossy top coat.
The Years of the Monkey include 1920, 1932, 1944, 1956, 1968, 1980, 1992, 2004, 2016, 2028…
Hmmm. I’m not sure 2016 was anybody’s lucky year. 😂
Serum No5 Tiger
Tiger is the perfect tiger orange with scattered and linear holographic finish. This is 2 coats with no top coat.
The Years of the Tiger include 1914, 1926, 1938, 1950, 1962, 1974, 1986, 1998, 2010, 2022, 2034…
Serum No5 Pig
Pig is best described as a steel grey scattered and linear holographic polish. This is 2 coats with no top coat. You could also get away with a single coat for this one.
The Years of the Pig include 1923, 1935, 1947, 1959, 1971, 1983, 1995, 2007, 2019, 2031, 2043…
Serum No5 Sheep
Sheep is best described as a rich deep purple, leaning a little to the violet side. Scattered and linear holographic finish. This is 2 coats, but could be a single coat.
The Years of the Sheep include 1919, 1931, 1943, 1955, 1967, 1979, 1991, 2003, 2015, 2027, 2039, 2051…
Serum No5 Ox
Ox is best described as an azure blue. It leans slightly more turquoise than my photos show. A gorgeous blue though! This is 2 coats with no top coat, but again one slightly thicker coat would work.
Years of the Ox include 1913, 1925, 1937, 1949, 1961, 1973, 1985, 1997, 2009, 2021, 2033…
Serum No5 Horse
Horse is best described as a molten chocolate brown holigraphic polish. I love this shade so much! My swatches are 2 coats with no top coat, one slightly thicker coat would be plenty.
The Years of the Horse include 1918, 1930, 1942, 1954, 1966, 1978, 1990, 2002, 2014, 2026…
Serum No5 Dog
Dog is a super shiney candy apple red holographic polish. Definitely one of my favorites! And not just because it’s called Dog. 🙂 My swatches are 2 coats, but 1 could get you by.
The Years of the Dog include 1922, 1934, 1946, 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994, 2006, 2018, 2030, 2042…
My Thoughts: I was really blown away by this collection. First the brushes are all shorter and on the slightly wide side, so application was super easy with maximum control of the polish. I had to do almost no clean up with any of them. No worries about the brush being too wide though, I have small skinny nails and the brush was almost exactly the width of my pinky nail, which to me is perfect. I swatched these with no top coat to show just how shiney and perfect the finish is. If I hadn’t told you that I doubt you would ever know! The formula was phenomenal across the board. Monkey was a little streaky, but for a white crelly-like formula thats really par for the course. Overall I have zero complaints!
The Lucky Numbers collection releases Saturday, January 28th.
