Little Ondine First Love
First Love is described as a glossy sweetheart candy pink. I had no application issues. My swatches show 3 coats with Little Ondine Special Base/Top Coat.
Little Ondine Fresh Mint
Fresh Mint is described as an irresistible pastel cream mint with a glossy finish. This one went on a little clumpy, but the Little Ondine Special Base/Top coat smoothed it really well. This is 3 coats.
Little Ondine Citrus
Citrus is described as a buttercream yellow creme. My bottle of citrus had separated so I had to shake it up quite a bit, which caused a lot of bubbles (more than a standard lacquer polish.) But once again applying the Little Ondine Special Base/Top coat smoothed it out beautifully and the bubbles virtually disappeared. My swatches show 3 coats.
Little Ondine Purple Rain
Purple Rain is described as a medium bright purple creme. My bottle had separated and was very difficult to mix effectively with the lack of mixing balls in the bottle. When I applied the polish I had some unmixed pigment and light areas, which is clear in my swatches. This is 3 coats with Little Ondine Special Base/Top coat.
Little Ondine Nirvana
Nirvana is described as a cool toned light sky blue creme. Nirvana applied easily and smoothly. My swatches show 3 coats with Little Ondine Special Base/Top coat.
In conclusion I would say do not expect these to apply like regular lacquer. They are a bit more “stringy” than regular lacquer, but most still apply easily with the nice wide brush. They also have no scent, which is quite surprising at first. I will say the Special Base/Top coat is magic, I don’t know whats in it but any flaws in the polish application virtually disappear after one coat of their special top coat. That is definitely a huge plus.
I left Nirvana on my right hand to do a wear test. But being the scatter brained girl that I am I promptly got in the shower (which is the one thing they say NOT to do.) They advise no hand hashing or warm water for a minimum of 3 hours after applying. So I basically gave them the *ultimate* wear test. I could see right away that the polish was lifting and bubbling in the water, but firmly ‘pushing’ the polish back down again was surprisingly, yet temporarily, effective. Most report approximately 3 days of wear before the polish starts peeling off, which I think would be about right if you don’t immediately jump in the shower. *big duh on my part*
Overall these polishes are probably not going to impress hard core polish addicts, but for children or pregnant women these could be a perfect solution!
