Starlight Polish Sekhmet
Sekhmet is described as a true red with red shimmer and microflakes, red to gold shifting shimmer and microflakes, and holographic pigment and microglitter. This was surprisingly opaque and was perfect in just 2 coats. Formula was flawless. Sealed with glossy top coat.
From the Maker ~
“Sekhmet is a fascinating figure to me – there are so many contradictory ideas and names associated with her. She was a preserver of Ma’at (justice or balance), a destroyer of evil, a bringer of plagues upon those who wrong her or disrupt Ma’at, a destroyer and bringer of death, and a healer and patron of healers and medicine. She was a protector of pharaohs and led them in warfare, and wielded arrows of flame against her enemies. In the Book of Life, she is described as both a creative and destructive goddess. She was represented by the heat of the sun at its zenith and the dry, hot winds of the desert were said to be her breath. She is called “One Before Whom Evil Trembles,” “She Who is Powerful,” “The Lady of Slaughter,” “The Lady of Pestilence,” “The Lady of Flame,” “The Lady of Terror,” and “The Lady of Life.”
“According to later legend, Sekhmet was created when Ra was angered with humanity for rebelling against him and failing to uphold Ma’at. He sent her to earth and she slew and slew until Ra saw the lands running red with blood. Deciding to spare the remainder of humanity, Ra commanded her slaughter to cease. Lost to blood lust, she ignored him. To stop her, Ra created in her path what appeared to be a river of blood, but was truly beer dyed red. She drank and drank until, in a drunken stupor, she sank into a sleep that lasted for three days. She awoke calmed and humanity was spared. In an interesting parallel, Sekhmet was also credited with saving humanity during the times when the Nile would flood excessively and its waters would run red, by drinking the overflow.”
